Philip Henley Dodgson of Hampstead, London was born on 30 january 1892, the son of Henley Frederick Johnson. He attended Winchester College and was admitted to Trinity College on 25 June 1910 (Pensioner). He received his BA in Law/Political Economy in 1913. During the First World War he served as a Captain in the Royal Field Artillery and was awarded the Military Cross. He died in 1961.
